Fuel your Mornings with Goodness!

Breakfast is a very important meal. Eating a healthy breakfast will help to give you a big energy and nutrient boost to start your day. What’s so wonderful about breakfast is that it’s quick, simple and no-fuss, and it tastes delicious too! Here are some breakfast favorites that go way beyond the ordinary plain cornflakes and milk.

Chia Pudding

It sounds and looks like a dessert, smells like a tropical beauty, and tastes amazing! According to bioglan, Chia has twice as much protein as eggs, nine times as much omega-3 as salmon, five times as much calcium as regular milk and double the amount of fiber in oats. Chia pudding only takes about 5 minutes to prepare and can also be done the night before.

1 cup coconut or almond milk
¼ cup Chia seeds
½ tbsp honey or a natural syrup
Simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl or mason jar, top with fresh, sliced fruits (such as mango, berries, kiwi, fig, nectarine, grapefruit), then cover and refrigerate until firm (around 1 hour) or overnight.

Chocolate Berry ‘Healthy’ Icecream

It’s like a mix between a smoothie and ice cream! It’s really easy to make and is much much healthier than ordinary ice cream and ‘frozen yogurts’, which are packed with added sugars and other nasty stuff!

2 frozen bananas
1 tbsp cacao powder
¼ cup light toasted rolled oats
1 tbsp coconut flakes
1 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts)
2 tbsp honey or a natural syrup
Chocolate Banana Ice-cream: Cut up the frozen bananas small chunks. Process for 40-60 seconds with cacao powder until smooth and creamy. Transfer into a bowl. Top with oats, coconut flakes and nuts, and drizzle with honey.

Avo on toast

Try this tasty, natural alternative to the same old spreads on toast every morning. Avocado is full of nutrients and beneficial oils and it even has more potassium than bananas!

1 slice bread
½ ripe avocado
squeeze of fresh lemon juice
pinch of pepper
Mash up avocado in a small bowl, add lemon juice and mash until combined. Spread onto a slice of bread and grind over fresh pepper. Easily done and tastes great!
